Architectural Design:
We have experience designing a wide range of building types for a range of differing clients; projects that include residential, commercial, and institutional work, in scales that vary from whole buildings to small interior projects.
Residential: Custom residential projects represent the bulk of work. Our completed projects range in both style and scale.
Commercial: Our projects have included office interiors, a retail showroom, assorted work for both the Bel Air and Hillcrest Country Clubs, and a new mixed use building in Santa Monica.
Institutional: We have completed design work on three different projects for the City of Santa Monica, including work on the historic carousel building.
Interior Architecture: We have worked on interior projects both as a sole designer and by teaming with different interior designers. Principal Kyle Moss teaches in the interiors departments at both the Art Institute and at UCLA extension and has a strong background in both contemporary and traditional interior detailing.
Sustainable Design: As both educators and designers thinking about sustainability is essential to us. With three completed LEED for home projects and with three more on the boards we are at the forefront of sustainable residential design. Principal, Kyle Moss, in addition to informally educating interested clients about sustainable building systems and materials does so as well at both UCLA Extension and the Art Institute where he teaches a course specifically dedicated to such issues.
Sustainable Landscape
Too often landscape is pushed to end of the design process yet as the biggest single user of residential water, as an element which can provide passive cooling to a structure, and as a sustainable choice to enlarging a home through indoor/outdoor living, intelligent landscape design is essential.
Landscape designer Lisa Moss’ designs emphasize sustainability through the extensive use of California native plants and edible landscapes. Her work has met the stringent standards of the City of Santa Monica’s Office of Sustainability and the platinum rating level of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program.
Design Build
Large high-end custom residences have a team of professionals, the architect, the landscape designer, the interior designer, the structural engineer, the sustainability consultant, the audio visual consultant, the permit expeditor, and the contractor and sub contractors, and someone who is paid to coordinate the team, either the architect or an owner’s representative. For multi-million dollar projects a team of independent consultants can make sense but there is no way for such an approach to be cost effective on a smaller scale and that is why we offer a design build option.
We have created a team of consultants and contractors with whom we have a proven track record. Professionals who are dedicated to building well, intelligently, and sustainably. The integrated team approach means that from initial concept drawings to final installation you will have both the designers and installers working together. The Contractor will give initial cost and value input and the designers will give final approval on the construction.
