Additional natural light and space, upgraded finishes and detailing, and improved weather resistance, insulation, and heating were all elements in this major remodel in Santa Monica. The existing 2000 sq. ft., two-story residence was expanded by an additional 700 sq. ft. and the existing sections were somewhat reconfigured for better circulation and use of natural light.
The previously dark family room was opened to a reconfigured kitchen, and the stairway was relocated. Previous additions were integrated into the home with consistent detailing and finishes. The end result is a comfortable home with good flow and light, that expresses the casual elegance of original 1920s southern Californian Spanish style house.
